Today is different. Here are author of The Long Weekend, Savita Kalhan's, personal book recommendations especially for readers aged 11-14:
Some of my favourite writers for teen/YA are:
Malorie Blackman, Jennifer Donnelly, Gillian Philip and Kevin Brooks.
Great teen/YA books that I’ve read recently:
- Out of Shadows by Jason Wallace
- No Use Crying by Zannah Kearns
- Words in the Dust by Trent Reedy
- You Against Me by Jenny Downham
A new website has just been launched exploring the best of British teen/YA books, so do check it out as it’s a great list: UKYA
I belong to a group of 8 writers called The Edge, who include Keren David, Miriam Halahmy, Dave Cousins, Katie Dale, Sara Grant, Bryony Pearce and Paula Rawsthorne. Our novels are all teen/YA and they are all edgy in their own way. We also have a list of recommended teen/YA reads there, including my book, The Long Weekend.
